After an extensive recruitment process, I am pleased to announce that Mrs Lauren McDonald was the successful applicant for the Senior School Support Officer Position. Lauren currently holds a position in Human Resources at the Department of Education.

We look forward to welcoming Lauren to our school community next term.

Athletics Carnival

Last Thursday 17th June, the SPX community came together to participate in the annual Athletics Carnival. It was an exciting day for all, especially for many of our Infants who participated in their first Athletics carnival. All of our students enjoyed participating in a variety of track, field and novelty events and achieved outstanding results.

Thank you to all of our parent helpers who were able to be part of the day. We really appreciate your help. A special thank you to the leaving parents of Year 6 who have volunteered at every carnival for their children for many years. We will miss you!

Please see the carnival results below. Ribbons and age champions medals will be handed out next term (date to be confirmed).

If your child has made the SPX Diocesan Athletics team, you will receive a Compass event notification in Term 3. The Diocesan Carnival will be held at Beaton Park on Tuesday 3rd August.

NAIDOC Week

NAIDOC Week 2021 will be held nationally from Sunday 4 July and continue through to Sunday 11 July which is during the school holidays. As a school, we will celebrate on Friday 16th July with a liturgy in our hall for staff and students. We ask that the students dress in traditional Aboriginal colours for a mufti day in which we will engage in Indigenous games, activities and a colouring-in competition with prizes for grade winners.

This year's NAIDOC 2021 theme is Heal Country, Heal Our Nation, a theme that calls for stronger measures to recognise, protect, and maintain all aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage. During NAIDOC, we remember in our thoughts and prayers the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of our country and celebrate their rich cultures and inspiring contributions to Australia.

For more information on this year's NAIDOC theme please go to the link: https://www.naidoc.org.au/get-involved/2021-theme

Students are invited to wear MUFTI on Friday 16th of July (Friday Week 1) to celebrate NAIDOC Week. Students are encouraged to wear colours from the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Island flags (ie red, black, yellow, blue, white, teal)
