SCHOOL NEWS

Staffing News

Mrs Joanne Stewart (Year Two Red) teacher will take a period of sick leave this term. Mrs Stewart is recuperating from a recent surgery and we wish her a quick recovery. Welcome to Mrs Kim Norrie who will take Year Two Red for the duration of Term Two.

As a result of increased enrolments an additional staffing allocation has led to the following changes for the remainder of the year :

  1. Miss Steffane Ceccato will provide Mrs Christine Nunes with Leadership Release in Year Five Blue on a Thursday and Friday.
  2. Mr Hales will return to his role as STEAM teacher Kindergarten to Year Six

Also, a warm welcome to Mrs Yvonne Newton and Mrs Jodie Maloney, who will work across Kindergarten to Year Six in Term Two as School Support Officers.

Uniform Reminders

Thank you for presenting the children so well in their uniforms. A gentle reminder that all children are required to be in full winter unfirm on Monday 9th May. We kindly ask your cooperation with the following:

  • No anklet socks, socks must be visible
  • Students are required to wear their hair in a neat and tidy manner.
  • Long hair below collar length is to be tied back.
  • Extreme haircuts and coloured hair are not permitted. The emphasis is on evenly cut hair.
  • No coloured hair decorations – girls may wear headbands, ribbons, scrunchies in royal blue or red and uniform material only.

Kindergarten Interviews 2023

  • Next week Kindergarten interviews for students coming to St Pius X in 2023 commence. This is a time of great privilege as we begin forming our relationship with families for the first time and welcoming siblings into the school. Enrolment interviews will continue throughout May with offers of placement being sent home towards the end of the term. Please spread the word about our wonderful school!
Premier's Reading Challenge
Each year the Premier of New South Wales invites students from Kindergarten to Year 10 to participate in the Premier's Reading Challenge.
The Premier's Challenge aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students, and to enable them to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely.
The Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC) is open to all NSW students in Kindergarten to Year 10, in government, independent, Catholic and home schools.
The Premier's Reading Challenge closes on Friday 19th August.
More information can be found at the following web address;
and reading logs can be downloaded using this link
Students are able to borrow books listed in the Challenge from our school library or from SORA (online app but only for students in Year 3 and above)
If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact either Mrs Jan Poder or myself.
