SCHOOL NEWS

Parish Community BBQ

This Sunday there will be a wonderful parish community celebration taking place and everybody is warmly invited to attend. Please see the flyer below for details.

Second Hand Uniform Shop

Our Uniform Shop is now cashless! All Items are $5 and can be paid for by card at the front office. Parents are invited to enter the Uniform Shop, located near the office. We kindly ask that any items tried on or pulled out are put back into the correct place. Donations of clothing items are happily accepted at the office!

Late and Early Office Arrivals

A friendly reminder that if a child has arrived late (after 8.50a.m) or is going home early (before 3.10p.m) that they need to sign in at the office with a parent before going to the classrooms. We encourage parents, where possible to book appointments and other activities outside school hours.

Federal Election BBQ

St Pius X is a polling venue for the upcoming federal election on Saturday 21st May. Come along and vote and enjoy a yummy sausage sizzle. Please note Year Six students are invited to assist with serving for an hour and require a parent / guardian on site.  If attending they are asked to wear their Year Six T-shirt.  The BBQ will operate from 7.30a.m to approximately 4pm.

2022 SPX da Vinci Decathlon Results

The da Vinci Decathlon is an academic competition designed to challenge and stimulate the minds of school students. Students compete in teams of eight across 10 disciplines: Engineering, Mathematics, Code Breaking, Art and Poetry, Science, English, Ideation, Creative Producers, Cartography and Legacy.

Once again this year, SPX had 2 teams participate in this day and were in training since Term 1. The teams consisted of  Year 5: Isaac L, Eli R, Hudson O (Year 4, Joshua S absent), Ava H, Tiffany T, Emma V, Ava G and Ryan Y (Year 5)Year 6: Matthew C, Ike M, Xavier O, Maximus O, Joseph F, Katelyn H, Eva B, Elisabeth S (Matthew D and Ruby H absent)

These students were part of over 300 students competing in teams on this day and should all be very proud of their efforts and school spirit shown. A big thank you to those students who filled in at the last minute, for those students who were absent due to illness.

An extra big congratulations to our Year 6 team, who were awarded 3rd overall in the discipline of Mathematics – an enormous achievement.

The 3rd placement certificate and participation certificates will be handed out this week.

Walk Safely to School Day
National Walk Safely to School Day is on Friday 20 May 2022. This program encourages all primary school children, their parents and carers to walk safely and regularly to school. The event seeks to promote road safety, health, public transport and the environment.
Australian children are becoming less active. One substantial contributor is the decline in walking and/or taking public transport to school. Children who are regularly physically active are healthier, and perform better academically. Walking regularly is the best exercise because you can build it into your daily routine.
On Friday 20th May we invite students to meet teachers at the Unanderra Oval at 8.30am to participate in Walk Safely to School Day.  Parents are most welcome to join in the walk or drop your child/ren at the oval.
