RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS

DEDICATION OF THE ROSARY – MONTH OF MAY

Throughout the Month of May students will be learning to say the Rosary (in part or whole) every Friday as a dedication to Mary the Mother of Jesus. If students would like to bring in their own rosary beads to support this prayer dedication they are very welcome to do so.

UPCOMING FEAST DAY: OUR HELP OF CHRISITIANS – AUSTRALIA’S PATRON SAINT

On Tuesday 24th May we celebrate the special feast of the patron of Australia, Mary, Help of Christians. Each country of the world has a patron saint, that is someone who is special to the people of that country for some particular reason. They are special friends of God and so we pray to that saint and ask them to intercede on our behalf with God and ask God to hear our prayers. We can ask Mary’s special help and guidance so that we may remember and appreciate what a wonderful country we live in. May we be grateful people who genuinely value the great gifts this country gives us. Students of St Pius X will be participated in a liturgy service within their classrooms to mark this special day.

CLASS MASSES

This term we are very fortunate to re-start attending Mass with Fr Duane at the Immaculate Conception Church. Fr Duane has generously agreed to offer a ‘teaching Mass’ outside of normal parish Mass, for each grade. Masses will take place within Term 2 and Term 4 due to Fr Duane taking a period of leave. Students will be able to participate in all parts of the Mass under the wonderful tutelage of Fr Duane, Deacon Darren, Sr Kerry and their classroom teachers. We are very thankful to Fr Duane for his flexibility and support in order to foster the spiritual development of our students.

LAUDATO SI WEEK

LAUDATO SI’ WEEK  16th – 24th May is a global celebration where we remember Pope Francis urging us in his encyclical Laudato Si’ to hear the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor and to humbly place ourselves in communion with our common home. Today, we celebrate our part in the great progress the whole Church is making on its journey towards the seven Laudato Si’ Goals set before us by Pope Francis to achieve ecological conversion. Students of St Pius X have participated in daily prayer throughout the week coupled with Laudato Si inspired activities.
