RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS

Collaborative Leadership Improving Learning Sessions

This week teachers from Years 3 – 6 were released from class to undertake professional development with Ms Sartor (Instructional Coach) and Mrs Nunes (Assistant Principal) within the area of numeracy. Within these sessions teachers discerned over current data sets and collaboratively planned lesson sequences to bolster student understanding within their identified areas of need.

Advent – Commences Sunday 27th November

Advent is such a busy time of year and we so easily forget that—at its heart—it is meant to be a time of preparation, waiting and hope for the coming of Jesus into our world and lives.

To remind us of this, for the past nine years, the diocese has published an annual Advent and Christmas Program that provides an opportunity for us to be still each day, listen to God, and come to know that Jesus is the whole reason for our being. Like Mary proclaimed in her Magnificat:

“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord.”
LUKE 1:46

Whole School Mass

On Thursday 8th December 9.30 am the whole St Pius X school community will be participating in our end of year Mass at the Immaculate Conception Parish, presided over by Fr Duane. Within this mass the Light of Leadership will be passed on from our current Year 6 leaders to our incoming 2023 Captains and Vice Captains. All are welcome to attend, seating is limited.

 Christmas Concert

On Friday 9th December we will be hosting the St Pius X 2023 Christmas Concert. The concert will commence at 9.30 am within the school grounds and then parents and carers are warmly invited to stay for a picnic lunch opportunity with the children.

Christmas Cards - Villa Maria Residents

Students are asked to start bringing in 2 x Christmas cards with envelopes as our school community will be writing cards to the residents of the Villa Maria Nursing Home in Unanderra.  Our cards last year brought much cheer and love to the residents so we are very much looking forward to participating in this initiative again.

Holy Communion - Week 7

On Monday 21st and Wednesday 23rd November students from our school will be making their First Holy Communion at the Immaculate Conception Parish. We would like to take this opportunity to send our warmest wishes and congratulations to these students and their families. A big thank you to Sr Kerry, Ms Jaklic, Mrs Hertsch and Fr Duane for their support and preparing these students so wonderfully.
