FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Caregivers of St Pius X,
Last week we watched our Year 6 students celebrate a very important sacrament in their faith journey; their Confirmation. With the support of their teachers, Sr Kerry, Ms Louise Sartor, Father Duane and Bishop Brian the children were well prepared for making their Confirmation. Attending such an event brings to light our strong sense of faith and community at St Pius X. I take this opportunity to publicly congratulate our Year 6 confirmation candidates.
As we approach the conclusion of Semester One, our dedicated teachers have been diligently preparing reports that showcase your child's progress and achievements throughout the semester and give you some insight into your child’s learning.
Semester One reports will be made available via Compass on Friday 23 June (Week 9) for students in Years 1-6. Reports are written in line with the requirements of the NSW K-10 syllabuses for the Australian Curriculum and grades are awarded to students following the Common Grade Scale. Following this distribution of reports, we will be holding Parent-Teacher interviews in Week 10.
Year 5 students will have their reports made available via Compass this Friday, and parent-teacher interviews will take place during Week 9. This adjustment is due to Mrs. Garretty being on leave in Week 10. Kindergarten students will also have parent-teacher interviews in Week 10; however, they will not receive a written report at this time.
When reading through your child’s report it is crucial to recognise that these reports reflect student progress within the current semester and are not a comparison of growth from previous years or semesters. Consequently, it is possible that your child may receive a different grade compared to last year's report, as they have been focusing on different topics and objectives aligned with the syllabus outcomes.
We encourage you to take the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions during the upcoming Parent-Teacher interviews, where you can gain further understanding of your child's development, celebrate their successes and address any concerns or questions you may have.
