SPOTLIGHT ON LEARNING

NRL Dragon Tag Skills Clinic

Today, Year 5 took part in a NRL Dragon Tag skills clinic. They learnt how to score a try, stepping around players, passing as well as correct techniques for kicking.
Lots of fun and laughs were had

During October Stage 3 engaged in Mission Month and learned about Timor-Leste and the Salesian Sisters.

We located Timor-Leste on the globe and researched the work the Sisters carry out to support the students in their care.

We honoured SOCKTOBER on Wednesday 25th by wearing crazy socks and creating a soccer ball using unwanted socks, used plastic bags, and remnants of material.

We thoroughly enjoyed this experience, raised a lot of money for our neighbouring brothers and sisters and are looking forward to testing out our handmade soccer ball!

Prayer Tangles
As part of our school wide focus on prayer students in 6R have engaged in the meditative practice of ‘Prayer Tangles’ where individuals are asked to enter into silent prayer and contemplation while drawing small and intricate patterns on a provided square or paper. Although the tangles may appear quite simple, the process requires great self control and commitment. All students demonstrated their sound ability to engage in this prayer experience and it is surely a style will be revisiting!

6B

6B have been busy in Term 4, engaging in a wide array of activities including learning and supporting the Salesian Sisters and their Mission Work with SOCKTOBER, and recently participating in a Dragon Tag skills session.

As part of daily prayer, 6B have been learning how to engage in the meditative practice of ‘Prayer Tangles’. This is where students are asked to enter a space of prayer and contemplation while drawing an array of small patterns on pieces of paper. Students have demonstrated their keen eye for art and maintained a committed and centred approach to the mindful practise.

With Summer around the corner, 6B have been looking at Water Safety and the significance of the message, ‘Never Swim Alone’. Backed by a visit from local lifeguards and a variety of in class activities, we are sure that there will be many safe and proactive swimmers from Year 6!
