New Gate Procedures
A new school gate has been installed on Cummins St close to the drop off zone. This gate will be the main entry in the mornings for students and families. This gate will be supervised each morning by a teacher.
Some notes to remember:
- If using the drop off zone students move directly from car to gate. Parents will not need to move away from cars.
- If using the parking space on the corner of Cummins and Hargreaves. parents are to accompany students to the crossing and students will walk to the new gate where the supervising teacher will be waiting.
- The side gate next
- The gate will have a stopper on it to ensure it remains open. Matt, the maintenance man will do this on his next visit.
- The person on gate duty is to stand at the gate to ensure no students exit the gate once on the school premises.
- The side gate next to the office, will now remain closed and any students or parents coming on site through the new crossing/parking, will need to go through the office to access the playground. This is to ensure that no students go out this gate due to limited supervision in this area.
School Uniform
As we returned to term two a big thank you for ensuring the children were presented so well in their unforms. This certainly speaks of the outward respect they have for their school. A gentle reminder that all children need to transition to Winter Uniform by Monday 13th May. We have some items in our second hand uniform pool or alternatively please visit Lowes Figtree or access their online range at https://www.lowes.com.au/schools-online/st-pius-x-primary-school-unanderra?p=2
Tomorrow would have been Walk to School Safely Day where students would have had the opportunity to participate. This day is normally dedicated to promoting the importance of walking to school and practicing safe pedestrian habits.
Why Walk to School Safely Day is Important:
- Promotes Physical Activity: Walking is a great way for children to get the exercise they need for a healthy lifestyle.
- Teaches Road Safety: By walking to school, students learn valuable road safety skills such as looking both ways before crossing, using crosswalks, and obeying traffic signals.
- Reduces Traffic: Walking to school reduces traffic congestion and pollution around our school, making our community safer and cleaner.
- Encourages Independence: Walking to school gives students a sense of independence and responsibility as they navigate their way to school safely.
