Students are required to wear their hair in a neat and tidy manner. Haircuts should be of an even grade. Hair should be well brushed and combed and it is assumed that hair will not be in such a condition as to invite comment.
BE AWARE OF THE FOLLOWING:
- Extreme styles, bleaching, colouring or dyeing of hair are not permitted.
- Hair should not extend to cover the eyes.
- Students who do not abide by the haircut requirements will be asked to fix the identified problem.
- Hair below collar length is to be tied back.
- Ribbons, scrunchies and bands of school colour (red and blue) are to be worn.
JEWELLERY:
Jewellery should be kept to a minimum – watches, chains and religious symbols are acceptable. No single piercing or more than two earrings to be worn. Sleepers and studs are the accepted earring style. Please note a child with a single piercing or more than two piercings will be given the option to insert a clear stud or remove the earring.
SHOES AND SOCKS:
- Students are required to wear black shoes that can be polished (no canvas or runner style).
- Sports shoes should be supportive and not basketball style hightops.
- Sports socks must be white socks i.e., covering the ankle. ‘Sockettes’ are not appropriate for school wear.
STAFFING NEWS
After a period of Maternity Leave it is wonderful to welcome back Mrs Chloe Tighe to Kindergarten, as additional teacher Monday to Wednesday. Please note Mrs Jo Stewart and Ms Louise Sartor will continue to support Kindergarten as additional staff for the remainder of the year.
After a recruitment process Mrs Gemma Farrugia has accepted the position of Visual Arts Teacher for Term Three. Mrs Farrugia will work with Stage Three on a Thursday, with the Christmas Art Competition being her major focus. Mrs Farrugia has a Bachelor of Visual Arts and Theology from ACU and is currently working part time as a Stage 4 Visual Arts/ RE teacher at Chevalier College.
I am sure you will join the staff in and students in welcoming Mrs Farrugia to our community.
Standard Collection Notice for parents and students
Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong’s (CEDoW) Standard Collection Notice for parents and students has been updated. This notice explains how CEDoW handles the personal information of students and parents, and replaces the notice previously provided to you in our enrolment package. The Notice can be viewed on pages 5-6 of the Enrolment Policy and Procedure document on the CEDoW website
Road Safety
Staff car park
Remember:
- the staff car park is for staff use only
- do not use the car park to drop off or pick up your children
- teach your children to enter and exit the school grounds using the pedestrian access gates located on Cummins street (In front of astro or office) or Hargreaves St.
Riding safely
Many children enjoy riding their bicycle or scooter to and from school and it’s a great way for you to join them to stay active.
Teach your child to be a safe rider by:
- always wearing a correctly fitted helmet – it’s the law
- riding on the footpath keeping to the left and giving way to pedestrians
- always supervising children under 10, adults are allowed to ride on footpaths with children under 16
- being responsible to store their bike securely, in the bike racks located near the sports shed.
