FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week marks the midway of the final term for 2024 and it is certainly time to reflect on our School Vision. This statement is Christ centred and informs all aspects of life here at St Pius X:
“With faith as our guide, we nurture hearts and empower minds”.
Our Vision is evidenced by the way we encourage the children to live their faith each day and to achieve the best they can in their learning. Some wonderful examples of our Vision being lived throughout the term have included:
- Fr Duane visiting Stage Two classes to answer questions about the Catholic faith, the depth of questions was outstanding and the children were very engaged in his visit.
- Sr Kerry being a pivotal support, leading the First Holy Communion Retreats and participating in storytelling with our infants students. The children love when Sr Kerry is on site or engaging with them at the Parish.
- Our St Pius X Trivia Night, where community connection was built and funds raised for our children, a fun night was had by all!
- Quality teaching and learning across Kindergarten to Year Six, with Semester Two data demonstrating pleasing growth for many of our students. Reports have shown students sustaining their growth as the work gets progressively more complex, some students have also improved their Grades, which is outstanding.
Finally last week we officially welcomed our Kindergarten “Class Of 2025”. The children were very settled and enjoyed quality time in their new classrooms. We also launched our Swimming Program at the University of Wollongong for 2024.This program runs for four weeks and is aimed at students in Years Two and Four. Feedback from the children and staff has been very positive.
I look forward to seeing you at the many end of term events.
Sincerely,
Pauline Chrostowski
