Dear Parents and Carergivers of St Pius X,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce the new Attendance Policy, which came into effect at the start of February. Regular attendance is essential for your child's academic success and overall development. Research consistently shows that students who attend school regularly are more likely to achieve higher grades, develop better social skills, and build stronger relationships with their peers and teachers. By being present in the classroom, students engage in valuable learning experiences that contribute to their growth both academically and socially.

Our new attendance policy includes the following key components:

1. Attendance Tracking: We will closely monitor attendance records and identify patterns of absence (including partial absences). This will allow us to provide support promptly when needed.
2. Communication: Parents will receive notifications for unexplained absences or concerning patterns of absenteeism. We encourage open communication, so please feel free to reach out if you have concerns or if there are circumstances affecting your child’s attendance.
3. Support for Students: Our goal is to work collaboratively with families to provide the necessary support and resources to help students maintain consistent attendance.

We believe that every day at school is an opportunity for your child to learn, grow, and thrive. Your partnership in emphasising the importance of attendance is crucial. Please help us reinforce this message at home by encouraging your child to attend school daily and to be on time.

The Policy requires parents who intend for their child to take a period of extended absence (for longer than 5 days) to provide advance notice to the school by completing the Notification of Extended Absence form and submitting it to the Principal for approval. Please refer to the attached documentation for further information.

Our P&F Annual General Meeting was held on Wednesday night. Parents and Friends Associations are the primary formal mechanism for the engagement of parents in the faith-life and educational goals of the school. All parents/carers of students at St PIus X are welcome to attend P&F Meetings and events.

The P&F Association exists to:

• provide a collaborative, accessible forum for parents to meet formally and regularly with school staff to discuss matters pertaining to the faith, learning and well being of students;
• provide a parental perspective to assist the Principal in decision making;
• promote social contact among Parents and Friends;
• foster effective partnerships between parents, students, staff and parish;
• raise funds to provide resources to enrich learning and well being in the school environment.

All P&F Executive Positions were vacated at the P&F AGM and the following people were nominated to fulfil the roles throughout 2025. I sincerely thank the following Executive members for accepting their nominations and taking on the 2025 roles:
