 GRANDPARENTS DAY

STEM MAD
Today 3 groups of Year 6 children represented St Pius X, at the Innovate for Impact STEM day at the UOW Innovation Campus.
The children representing were: Emmett Turner, Isaiah Santalab, Tom Fischer, Madison Halcrow, Annabelle Brooks-Norton, Addison McPherson, Leni Grayson, Evie Newman, Scarlett Rodwell and Katie Vicelli.
The day saw over 50 groups of children from local schools show their incredible ideas to industry experts from across the Illawarra. They were challenged on their ideas and had to communicate how these would help the community.
Over the past 7 weeks since our own school's showcase, the students have put in a lot of effort to improve their displays and further develop their product.
All of the children represented the school and themselves very well and I'm extremely proud of them.

HOLIDAY READING ADVENTURES

The holidays are full of trips, visits, and family fun – but it’s also the perfect time to keep your reading spark alive! Reading doesn’t always have to mean sitting with a book (although that’s lovely too!) – there are so many fun ways to sneak stories and words into your adventures.

Here are some quick ideas to try:

  • Build a blanket reading den/cubby and snuggle up with a torch and a favourite story.
  • Visit your local library – it’s free, exciting, and you might even find a holiday reading challenge or storytelling session!
  • Turn everyday outings into a game by spotting street signs, menus, and timetables together.
  • Keep a holiday scrapbook or postcard collection – your very own memory book you can share when school starts again.
  • Get creative – read recipes while cooking, menus at cafés, or even cereal boxes at breakfast!

Most importantly, make it fun and relaxed. Reading together builds confidence, sparks imagination, and makes wonderful family memories. Happy Reading!

STAGE 3 PUBLIC SPEAKING

On Monday, our Stage 3 public speaking nominees impressed us with powerful speeches on topics ranging from lessons from our past to “Is social media really being social?”

Their confidence and creativity lit up the stage!

A big thank you to our adjudicators from Toastmasters for their expert guidance.

Congratulations to Dion Talevski (Year 5) and Claudia Davis (Year 6), who will proudly represent our school in the diocesan finals.

We are cheering you on!!!

WAKAKIRRI

Wakakirri Update - National Season Wrap-Up TV Special

Wakakirri are thrilled to celebrate the National Award Nominees from our region. Congratulations to Balgowlah North Public School, Green Point Christian College, Hornsby South Public School, Strathfield North Public School, Dapto Public School, St Pius X Catholic Primary School, Hamilton South Public School, MLC School - Secondary and Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College Tumbi Umbi Campus! These schools are now in the running for a National Festival Award, standing alongside other incredible schools from across Australia.

Plus, all participating schools are also being considered for a National Special Merit Award, which will be revealed during our Season Wrap-Up TV Special on the Wakakirri website.

Wakakirri organisers can’t wait to share the show! It’s packed with highlights from the season, National Award results, fun skits, behind-the-scenes moments and even some student co-hosts! Our school could be featured for all the creativity and energy we brought to our Story-Dance - Every Crack Makes You Stronger.

What’s Next?

Mark your calendar, 15th October, where Wakakirri will be announcing the results of the National Festival Awards as part of their Season Wrap-Up TV Special.
