Dear Parents and Carers,
This week our Year Six students participated in a two-night camp at “The Tops” Stanwell Park. I had the great pleasure of joining the students for lunch whilst they were at camp. It was wonderful to see the children flourishing outside the school environment and by all accounts it was a wonderful event, where leadership skills and friendships were strengthened. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Alyssa Frew, Ms Louise Sartor, Mr Bill Whittle, Mrs Jeanette Starcic and Mrs Karen Harley for their support and attendance at camp. I appreciate the time they took from their families to be with the children.
I am looking forward to our Family Fun Night tomorrow evening and am so appreciative of the impeccable planning from our Parents and Friends Executive. Thank you to all of our families who are able to come along and support this wonderful event, all proceeds will support the children directly at school. We are so fortunate to have such an active Parents and Friends Association at St Pius X. They have contributed many resources and experiences to our school to ensure that the children flourish in faith, learning and well-being.
Finally, congratulations to those students that received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion in our Parish last weekend. The children were so reverent throughout and were thoroughly prepared by their teachers, Sr Kerry and Father Duane.
Yours Sincerely,
Pauline Chrostowski - Principal

Spread Christmas Cheer with Villa Maria
It's time to share the joy of Christmas with the residents of Villa Maria Nursing Home in Unanderra. As part of our annual tradition, we invite all students to bring two empty Christmas cards with their matching envelopes to school.
These cards will be hand-delivered by Ms. Sartor to brighten the season for the residents so there is no need for a stamp — just kind wishes and festive creativity!
It is requested that students please bring their cards to the school by Friday, the end of Week 8.
Let’s make this Christmas extra special by spreading warmth and holiday cheer!
Thank you for helping make this wonderful tradition possible.
Over the past weekend, students in Year 3 and 4 had the profound blessing of receiving their First Holy Communion — a sacred milestone in their faith journey. Surrounded by family, friends, and our parish community of Immaculate Conception they experienced the joy of welcoming Jesus into their hearts in a special way.
We are so proud of these students for their commitment and preparation, and we pray that this beautiful sacrament strengthens their connection to God's love and grace. May they continue to grow in faith and be shining examples of His light in the world. We thank their teachers Mrs Anna Jaklic and Mrs Amanda Garretty who have prepared the students so well for their special day.
This coming Saturday will see two of our students celebrate at St Therese and we wish them all the very best on their special day.
Congratulations to all our First Communicants!
Reminder - Whole School Mass
Our school community will be coming together for our end of school Mass on Wednesday 4th December at 9.30am at Immaculate Conception Parish Church, Unanderra (weather permitting). During this Mass our current school and vice captains will hand over the Light of Leadership to the new 2025 incoming student leadership team. We will also be taking this opportunity to celebrate and farewell our outgoing principal Mrs Pauline Chrostowski and other leaving members of staff.
All are welcome to attend however please note that our students will take up all of the pews within the middle section of the church therefore limited seating will be available on the sides at the back half of the church (please see attached document).
Vale Sister Michelle Condon (RSJ)
With great sadness, we inform our Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong (CEDoW) community of the passing of Sr Michelle Condon, a Sister of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart. Sr Michelle was a former principal of St Michael's Catholic Parish Primary School, Mittagong, as well as St Pius X Catholic Parish Primary School, Unanderra, and St Paul’s Catholic Parish Primary School, Albion Park.
Sr Michelle served as principal of St Michael’s, Mittagong from 1989 to 1996. She was a kind and compassionate leader who ensured every child, staff member, and parent felt valued. Known for her care and inclusivity, she fostered a nurturing environment for the entire school community.
With Sr Maureen O'Halloran, Sr Michelle organised the school’s centenary celebrations in 1991, featuring a memorable debutante ball for the Kindergarten children.
A true follower of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Sr Michelle exemplified the ethos of “never seeing a need without doing something about it.” Deeply community-focused, she established the cherished tradition of Grandparents Day, a highlight of the school calendar that continues to bring joy each year.
During her tenure, Sr Michelle also oversaw the construction of the school’s current administration block, leaving a lasting legacy on the community and infrastructure. She is fondly remembered by many in the school community, including parents of current students who attended St Michael’s during her time as principal.
Sr Michelle will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially the Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart. We keep Sr Michelle and the Sisters of St Joseph in our prayers.
May she rest in peace.

YEAR 6 CAMP
This week, Year 6 students took a break from their classroom, to embark on a three-day outdoor camp that promised adventure, teamwork and building resilience.
Held at The Tops Conference Centre, the camp offered students an opportunity to challenge themselves, bond with their peers, and create lasting memories before graduating to high school.
The camp itinerary was packed with engaging activities, with highlights including the giant swing, the climbing tower and cooking marshmallows at the campfire.
Students also enjoyed the nighttime games, where they needed to think outside the box, utilise clear communication skills and work together for a shared goal.
By far, the food at The Tops was excellent – Vitaliy
Archery was very fun – Natalie
Brooke and Damo were very friendly – Marlee
