Dear Parents and Carers,
The students returned to school on Monday looking smart in their Summer Uniforms. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks for ensuring the children were presented so well. The uniform certainly speaks of the outward respect the children have for their school.
I was also pleased to note settled classes with strong routines in place. The children were able to clearly articulate their learning goals to me as I visited classrooms and there was a sense of excitement across the school for the term ahead.
I am delighted to announce that four of our Year Six boys have been chosen to represent our school at the STEM showcase in Brisbane; Issac Llamas, Issac Iera, Rome Golfo and PJ Pedron. This is a remarkable achievement and speaks volumes of the quality of our STEM program here at St Pius X and the extraordinary work of Mr Andrew Hales.
Today we welcomed our 2025 Kindergarten cohort to their first playgroup session. The children were so excited to join the community and wore their “I’m going to Kindergarten at St Pius X” t shirts proudly. The children will participate in eight playgroup sessions, followed by a Formal Orientation. I was also pleased to announce today that Mrs Leah Galea and Mrs Kim Norrie will be the Kindergarten Teachers for 2025. A third teacher will also be appointed as an additional full-time teacher for the classes and this will be advised with all other staffing allocations later in the term.
Finally, last night I was privileged, alongside Sr Kerry to attend the Wollongong Art Gallery, Samuel Panayiotou was a finalist in the Diocesan Christmas Art competition and his work is now on display at the Wollongong City Gallery. Why not pop in and look at the talents of our students across the Diocese? I would like to thank Mrs Gemma Farrugia for her support with the students with their Christmas Art.
Yours Sincerely,
Pauline Chrostowski - Principal

Life Education
This term, the children will once again visit Healthy Harold through the Life Education program. St Pius X is fortunate to have this visit subsidized by Illawarra Life Action group.
Each class will cover information relevant to their classroom programs. Life Ed along with classroom programs help children to:
- Connect the choices they make with short and long-term consequences.
- Value their safety, health and happiness.
- Develop positive attitudes for safer, healthier and happier choices.
- Build confidence and skills to manage potential coercive behaviours.
Life Education curriculum aligned programs tackle tomorrow's issues today, covering a wide range of topics across the areas of physical health, safety and social and emotional wellbeing.
Over the coming weeks we will share information about specific topics with you. As parents and carers, you may like to access some of the parent support materials offered by Life Education.
Please visit the Family Resources section of the website to discover useful tools and activities you can access for free. Life Education have a range of invaluable resources that help reinforce the lessons for children and young people aged 3 to 13. Together we can ensure your child has every opportunity to thrive.
