Dear Parents and Carers,
I look forward to joining thirty-four of our Year Six students as they prepare to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation this Thursday and Friday evening. I wish to thank Fr Duane, Sr Kerry, Ms Renee Maguire and our Year Six teachers for assisting the children in their preparation. I would also like to acknowledge Mrs Colleen Easton from the Catholic Education Office who led the children in a meaningful Reflection Day last Thursday.
To Our Year Six Candidates
“Congratulations on your confirmation. May God in all His goodness bless this special day with true happiness, and may you always keep the memory of your Confirmation day and let it and your faith be a guide. Congratulations and best wishes!”
Yours Sincerely,
Pauline Chrostowski - Principal

Semester Two Reports
Semester Two Reports will be issued for students in Kindergarten to Year Six on Friday 4th December.
Due to Covid-19, the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) has permitted schools to select the content that will form the basis of educational programs for Kindergarten to Year 10 students during 2020. As a result, not all syllabus content will be reported upon in Semester 2.
Features of the Semester 2 Report |
Why
|
Omission of an overall grade for each Key Learning Area (KLA) |
In line with the flexible curriculum requirements as outlined by NESA, schools addressed all Key Learning Areas, however, not all outcomes and content were taught, assessed and reported upon. Therefore, the overall grades in each KLA have been omitted from this Semester 2 Report for 2020. |
5 Point scale for Effort Descriptors |
Previous Academic Reports contained Commitment to Learning Descriptors, these have been replaced with a 5 point scale outlining the effort demonstrated by the student during learning activities. |
Positive Behaviours for Learning (PB4L) Description |
The format used to report on PB4L has been modified to reflect a more comprehensive range of students’ social skills and behaviours. |
Inclusion of descriptions for each Key Learning Area (KLA) and Content Strands |
Additional detail has been added to describe the knowledge and skills taught in each KLA. The purpose of this information is to provide parents with a clearer understanding of the teaching and learning taking place. |
ICAS RESULTS
School Banking Workshops
During Week 3, our students from Years 1 - 6 were engaged in Zoom style workshops aimed at education around money and saving.
Despite the current circumstances of Covid-19, building financial capability is still a vital skill for young Australians, perhaps now more so than ever in the current economic landscape and continually reinforcing and strengthening these skills will have a positive effect on their future financial wellbeing.
The series of fun, interactive and engaging workshops for grades 1- 6 equipped students with key money management skills. All workshops were mapped to the National Australian curriculum and focused on achieving financial literacy learning outcomes.

Message From Father Duane
Dear friends,
This is an exciting week! We kick it off by celebrating the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and First Eucharist) for 6 adults from our two parishes (2 to be baptised, all 6 receiving Confirmation and First Eucharist) at a special 11.30am Mass for them and their guests. Let’s continue to pray with thanksgiving for Kayla, Tiffany, Rob, Karene, Jade and Tom. This is also a great time to invite anyone who you think may be interested in becoming Catholic to make contact with us as we start the journey with the next group of inquirers.
During the coming week, I will be celebrating Confirmations for our young people. Bishop Brian would usually have celebrated this Sacrament in all parishes but could not do so due to Covid, and so has given this delegation to Parish Priests for the first week of November. We keep these young people and their families in our prayers, and thank the Sacramental Team for making this possible during this difficult year. Note in the bulletin the modified Mass timetable for weekdays this week due to the multiple Confirmation ceremonies required throughout the week.
Note also the extra Mass this Monday 2 November for All Souls Day at West Wollongong at 6pm – please email unanderra@dow.org.au to register for this one-off Mass.
If you would like to have the names of your deceased loved ones included in our Masses and books of remembrance for the month of November, please email the relevant parish office. However, if you do not have email, please call the relevant office during office hours.
You can read more details about all of this and also other news in the Sunday notices attached. Please find attached to this email:
- Parish Bulletin (with thanks to Sue Briscoe)
- Kids Corner (with thanks to Lauren Hall)
May God bless you and keep you and all your loved ones safe and well.
