Dear Parents and Carers,
It is one of my great pleasures to read the student reports each semester. I am in awe of how well our staff know the children and the clear learning goals that have been set. I encourage you to take the time to sit with your child(ren) at the end of the Term to go through their report card.
I always find a good starting point for discussion is the “Effort” section. The descriptors provide a clear snapshot of how well the student has applied themselves in each subject.
The overall achievement grade is also important, and it worth noting that a “C” is sound i.e. a student at this level is achieving at grade standard. I encourage you to book an interview time with your child’s class teacher via Compass and please note the option of a three-way conference, that includes your child is at your discretion.
As we journey towards the end of Semester One, I look forward to touching base with many of you on the playground or at Parent Teacher Interview sessions. I am especially excited to engage with the Kindergarten parents who will have their first formal opportunity to meet with their child’s class teacher.
Yours Sincerely
Pauline Chrostowski (Principal)

Sport News
It has been a very exciting couple of weeks at St Pius X on the sporting front.
CROSS COUNTRY
We had a very successful campaign at the recent Diocesan Cross Country selections in Narellan on Tuesday 24 May.
Guided by our amazing and dedicated Cross Country Team Manager Mrs Hertsch, we had 14 students compete at this event. Four students were successful in progressing to the next level by finishing in the top 8 of their respective races; Zac M (3rd), Zach O (8th), Rocco S (7th) & Molly H (2nd).
These four students all competed in the NSWCPS Cross Country on Tuesday 7 June at Eastern Creek. Once again our students represented our school admirably, whilst competing for the Diocese of Wollongong at this event.

Zac M - 14th
Zach O - 34th

Rocco S - 9th
12 Girls
Molly H - 37th
Well done to these students on their outstanding achievements in Cross Country this year. Extra special mention to Mrs Hertsch who held regular training sessions for these athletes to assist them in achieving their absolute best.
BASKETBALL
Our very own Addison B in Yr 6 has been competing and performing extremely well within the Basketball pathway for Primary Schools.
Most recently Addison competed at the NSWPSSA Basketball Championships in Tamworth with the MacKillop team, where they WON the event and were crowned the Champions.
Due to Addison’s outstanding performance at this event, she was then selected to be a part of the NSWPSSA Team that will now compete at the School Sport Australia Basketball Championships in August in Bendigo.
This is a huge achievement for Addison, and the St Pius X community is unbelievably proud of her. We wish Addison the best of luck at the School Sport Australia Basketball Championships in August, and we can’t wait to see what you accomplish next!
FOOTBALL (SOCCER)
At the end of May we had two students, Georgia C and Rocco S, who represented the Diocese of Wollongong at the Mackillop Football Trials held in Goulburn. The competition was of a high standard and our students played exceptionally well. Well done to both Georgia and Rocco on their representation.
NAIDOC Week
This year, St Pius X will be celebrating NAIDOC Week in Week 10.
We have a range of activities students can participate in to learn more about NAIDOC Week and to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
This year, the theme is Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! which encourages us to champion and drive for change.
To celebrate NAIDOC Week, our two main events are:
- Liturgy on Wed 29th June
- Colouring in competition - winners to be announced on Wednesday 29th June.
- NAIDOC Mufti Day on Wednesday 29th June. Students are invited to wear black, yellow, red, blue, white, and/or green to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. They do not need to bring in a gold coin donation.
Thank you
Mrs Galea & Mrs Frew
Premier Bus Update
Premier have been notified by multiple school bus drivers that students have not been using an opal card when boarding the bus.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind all schools and students that if a customer does not have a valid opal card they are not able to catch any bus.
Can you please advise all students and parents/guardians that starting from Monday 13th of June 2022, any student that does not have a valid opal card will be handed back to the school via the teacher on duty.
Please see below website outlining the Student Code of Conduct as displayed on Transport for NSW’s website.
https://transportnsw.info/student-code-conduct
We are hoping that all schools are able to work with us to achieve an outcome where all students will have a valid opal card when travelling on buses.
Kind Regards
