Dear Parents and Carers,
This week marks the end of another school term. It has been a huge term with lots of amazing community building events, from Mother’s day celebrations to celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation for Year 6. At St Pius X we pride ourselves on fostering a sense of belonging within our community, where we aim to action the call of Bishop Brian to “Be bearers of Christ’s Love” embodying love, compassion and kindness in our interactions with others. The hope is that by being bearers of Christ’s love, we can bring healing, comfort and reconciliation to those around us.
This week I had the privilege of attending a day with Fr Richard Lennen, where along with Ms Sartor, and Fr Duane, and other principals and clergy, we came together to unpack Pope Francis’ call for Synodality. Synodality is the process of discerning how the Holy Spirit is moving us, so that we can continue God’s mission in our world today. He highlighted that WE ARE CHURCH and it is through our relationships and listening to the voices of our community that we grow as a faith community. He encouraged us to listen to the past with an eye on the future.
This term we say farewell and good luck to Mrs Chloe Tighe who is taking a period of leave to have her baby. At this time we thank her for her contributions to our school life and in particular for all she has done for the students in Year 4 Red and SPLICED. Mrs Tighe you will be missed but we are excited for you, your husband Mitch and big sister Delilah.
Next term we welcome back Mrs Shay Lindner who will be stepping back into the role of Middle leader and Year 4 Red classroom teacher. Mrs Lindner will be in the 4 Red classroom Monday - Wednesday. Mrs Alyssa Frew joins us again next term for two days a week. She will take 4 Red on Thursday and Friday. We look forward to having Mrs Lindner and Mrs Frew back with us at St Pius X.
Our last day of Term 2 is this Friday 30th June and students return to school on Monday 17th July in their full winter uniform. I wish all our families a safe and happy holiday break and look forward to working with you in Term 3.
Yours Sincerely,
Christine Nunes - Acting Principal

CANTEEN UPDATE
We here at St Pius X are lucky enough to have Canteen Kat providing lunch and snacks for our children. Please see the attached note from Canteen Kat explaining the necessary changes that need to occur in order to remain viable. A service such as this requires the support of the school community.
CANTEEN KAT ANNOUNCEMENT
Thank you for having Canteen Kat in your school to provide your canteen service. There will be a few changes in the new financial year. In light of the increased wages and super and high increases in suppliers' costs etc, there will be a price increase on some items on the menu.
Unfortunately, there will be a large number of other schools in Term 3 with no canteen due to other canteen operators closing their canteens altogether. However, all Canteen Kat schools will remain operational as I am taking a different approach and reducing days with my affected schools. St Pius X is NOT an affected school at this time. I thank you for your ongoing support as I make hard decisions for the business, my staff, and your school community to keep the canteen open.
Price increases:
Rainbow fruit/vegetables/combo cup $1.50 to $2
Slinky Apple $1 to $1.50
Cheese and rice crackers $1.20 to $1.50
Hummus and rice crackers $1.20 to $1.50 Tomato/barbecue sauce portions $0.30 to $0.40
Red Rock Deli Sea Salt Chips $1.80 to $2.00
All other menu items remain the same price.
Online ordering discounts still apply.

NAIDOC WEEK
This week, as a school, St Pius X will celebrate NAIDOC Week. This year's NAIDOC 2023 theme is For Our Elders.
Across every generation, our Elders have played, and continue to play, an important role, and hold a prominent place, in our community and families. They are cultural knowledge holders, trailblazers, nurturers, advocates, teachers, survivors, leaders, hard workers and our loved ones. They guide our generations and pave the way for us to take the paths that we can take today. They influence and inspire us to work for the equality and hope that they fought for.
During NAIDOC, we remember the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of our country and celebrate their rich cultures and inspiring contributions to Australia. The students participated in a Colouring-In Competition, with the winners being announced at the ACE Awards ceremony on Friday. Congratulations to the winners!

Dear Parishioners,
Please find attached this week's bulletin.

Unanderra 1 have been learning about the Earth’s relationship with the Sun and how the Sun, Earth and Moon interact. They have learnt about the rotation of the Earth on its axis how it causes regular changes, including night and day and the pattern of the seasons. Students have enjoyed watching clips, participating in experiments and completing work sheets to share their thoughts.
Well done Unanderra 1!
Unanderra 2 have enjoyed some wonderful community access excursions. Their recent adventures have taken them via train to Kiama where they have made connections with their classroom learning, explored the local scenery, ordered their own lunch and ate together in a cafe setting.
Well done Unanderra 2.
Regards Aspect staff.
