Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been a wonderful privilege to meet with new and existing families as part of the Kindergarten 2025 interview process. Parents are speaking about the sense of welcome that they feel at St Pius X and the importance of faith and academic excellence for their child. Our enrolments are healthy and demonstrate the strong reputation that St Pius X has in the community.
Nurturing the faith of our children and ensuring academic excellence for all students is our core work. The staff work extremely hard to ensure that the children are engaged, feeling connected and are achieving personal excellence. I encourage you to attend Semester One Parent Teacher Interviews that are scheduled later in the term. These interviews are an important way to connect with your child’s teacher and collectively set learning goals for the Semester ahead. Children are encouraged to be a part of this interview process. Further details on booking times will be sent closer to the end of term.
Our Parents and Friends Meeting is now scheduled for Wednesday 5th June at 7.00pm. At this meeting I will present our revised Vision Statement and seek parental feedback. Our vision speaks of who we are and informs all aspects of school life. The vison has had staff, student and Parish voice and I look forward to parental input on the draft below.
With faith as our guide, we nurture hearts and empower minds.
Finally, every year the Catholic Church marks the anniversary of Pope Francis' landmark encyclical Laudato Si'. From the 19th – 26th of May we celebrate what is means to care for our common home. In 2023, Pope Francis released a 'sequel' to his famous letter called Laudate Deum which reminds us of the urgent need to act. As part of the call to action the children participated in a variety of activities focussed on our environment and I am thankful to Mrs Carlie Staples and Mrs Shay Lindner who so capably lead many environmental initiatives at St Pius X, including our highly successful Gardening Club.
Yours Sincerely,
Pauline Chrostowski - Principal

Our Lady, Help of Christians Feast Day
The Feast of Our Lady, Help of Christians is celebrated on 24th May.
It is a special day of thanksgiving and honour of Our Lady, the patroness of Australia. Students of St Pius X will mark this special feast day by participating in a liturgy and in class activities.
Prayer
Almighty God, deepen in our hearts
our love of Mary Help of Christians.
Through her prayers and under her protection,
may the light of Christ shine over our land.
May Australia be granted harmony, justice and peace.
Grant wisdom to our leaders and integrity to our citizens.
Bless especially the men and women
of the Australian Defence Force and their families.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
Mary Help of Christians, pray for us.
Years 6, 5 and 1 Grade Mass
Students from Years 6, 5 and 1 will be celebrating Mass with Fr Duane at the Immaculate Conception Church on Thursday 30th May at 9.30 am. Parents and carers are warmly invited to attend.
Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Celebrated on May 31, the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary commemorates the Virgin Mary’s visit to her cousin, Elizabeth. The meeting of these two women was a joyful and unique event.
At their meeting, John the Baptist leaped in the womb of Elizabeth, and she blessed Mary and the Christ Child. Mary, in turn, responds with the famous Magnificat praising the Lord. This visit is detailed in Luke 1:39- 55. Students will commemorate this significant Marian feast with a prayer experience.
Prayer:
Most glorious Virgin Mary,
you were filled with the Holy Spirit at the time of the Annunciation and carried the Eternal Son of the Father within you.
As you journeyed to visit Elizabeth, you did so with a holy urgency and drive, enabling you to fulfill the will of Your Son.
Please pray for us, that we may be filled with that same urgency to become holy and to spread that holiness to others.
Mother Mary, pray for us.
INJURY TO STUDENTS AND ILLNESS AT SCHOOL
As colder weather approaches, we kindly remind parents that students who are unwell should stay at home until they feel better. We understand that some symptoms can last some time, however during the initial stages it is best that children remain at home in order to stop the spread of coughs, colds and flus.
If your child becomes sick during the school day, we will contact you to arrange for them to be taken home. If we cannot reach you, we will call one of the emergency contacts to pick up your child. So please ensure that all information is current and up to date.
Any minor injuries that occur at school will be treated by our staff, while serious injuries prompt immediate parent contact. This includes head injuries. If time is critical, we will seek medical or hospital treatment first and inform you as soon as possible.
For students recovering from injuries such as fractures or sprains, we must create a safety plan to ensure their well-being at school. This requires a medical clearance from a doctor detailing any restrictions. Parents need to complete a STUDENT INJURY RETURN TO SCHOOL PLAN form, available at the office, before the child returns to school.
