Dear Parents and Carers,
Last Wednesday it was so wonderful to welcome over two hundred mothers, grandmothers and special women to our annual Mother’s Day Breakfast. We were extremely overwhelmed by the beautiful feedback. I am very thankful to our professional staff that served and organised food, created a COVID safe plan and organised lucky door prizes.
In particular, I would like to acknowledge Ms Louise Sartor, our Religious Education Coordinator who so capably led this event. Also, a big thank you to our generous Parents and Friends committee, led by Danielle Chapman and Kathy Hicks.
I came across this beautiful prayer to share with you.
A Prayer for Mothers
May you be loving-kindness to those who call you ‘mother’.
May you delight in nurturing and relish the gift of children.
May your heart be open to friends and strangers in need of mothering and mentoring.
May you grow in wisdom as you experience the struggles and rewards of life.
May you go to sleep each evening aware of the protection and warmth of God’s embrace.
Lastly, it is with great excitement that I announce that approval has been given for our Adventure Playground. This will be installed late in Term Three near the Administration Block. I shared the plans last night at our Parents and Friends Meeting and have also attached drawings for your perusal. I thank the parent committee that assisted me in providing feedback throughout the consultative process.
Yours Sincerely,
Pauline Chrostowski - Principal

St George Illawarra Dragons Visit
Last week members of the Dragons outreach team came to meet with our Stage 3 students to talk about and introduce their 2021 initiative in schools “Be the best You”. They discussed the importance of treating our bodies well by eating the right foods along with strategies to support student wellbeing.
The students were very engaged in this discussion and have been given a fantastic booklet to follow through and set some personal challenges.
We thank them for visiting and look forward to them returning this year as a follow up and session two.

Pentecost Gathering – Immaculate Conception Parish
The Pentecost Gathering being held on Saturday 29th of May at 10am at St Pius X Hall is shaping up to be an exciting opportunity of renewal and growth for our parish. The parish pastoral council will share the vision and goals for the coming year, and facilitate an opportunity for every parishioner to get to know your own unique, God-given gifts. This in turn can help you discern ways you may wish to get more involved in Parish life now or in the future. You’ll also have a chance to share feedback for future planning, and even to get involved in the work of the Pastoral Council itself – while getting to know your fellow parishioners better. Don’t miss it!
Activate Fire (Year 6)
On Tuesday 25th May Year 6 students will join with other local catholic schools to participate in a spiritual reflection day being hosted by Good Samaritan Catholic Primary School, Fairy Meadow. This special day is organised in conjunction with the Wollongong Catholic Youth Ministry Team and supports preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation. If you child is in Year 6 could you please be sure to complete the permission slip that has been sent home and return it to school as soon as possible.
Please find attached the Canteen Roster for the remainder of 2021
We still require a few volunteers for Week FOUR each month if you are available.
Parish News
Dear friends,
As you might have heard, temporary Covid restrictions have been re-introduced until Monday 10th May (at this stage). The relevant restrictions for our Masses:
- Compulsory wearing of face masks (with the usual exceptions of children under 12, health reasons)
- No congregational singing allowed
Let’s hope and pray that these restrictions will indeed be very temporary. Please also note that the Diocese has asked all parishes to conduct the annual Mass count, which will include some extra information to be gathered during sign-in at the doors. Thank you for your co-operation at this time.
Please find attached this week’s Bulletin. More details of the Pentecost Parish Gathering are included in this bulletin, and much more news as well.
A very happy Mother’s Day to all mothers and mother figures amongst us!
Mary, our heavenly mother: pray for us and draw us closer to you during this month of May.

Parish Priest
