Dear Parents and Carers,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the students for their efforts in Semester One. I have been impressed with the standard of work, general behaviour and attitude of the children. I am also grateful to our community for your ongoing support of St Pius X. We have had a pleasing increase in enrolments for 2022 and this can be attributed to the wonderful reputation the school has in the community.
I would also like to acknowledge our wonderful staff for their tireless dedication and hard work. At the heart of their work is the children and I am privileged to witness classrooms with strong routines and a settled and happy playground.
Finally, as we journey into uncertain times, I wish you and your family a safe and restful holiday break. I will update you on COVID requirements for Term Three as the term draws closer.
Yours Sincerely,
Pauline Chrostowski - Principal

Athletics Carnival
Last Thursday 17th June, the SPX community came together to participate in the annual Athletics Carnival. It was an exciting day for all, especially for many of our Infants who participated in their first Athletics carnival. All of our students enjoyed participating in a variety of track, field and novelty events and achieved outstanding results.
Thank you to all of our parent helpers who were able to be part of the day. We really appreciate your help. A special thank you to the leaving parents of Year 6 who have volunteered at every carnival for their children for many years. We will miss you!
Please see the carnival results below. Ribbons and age champions medals will be handed out next term (date to be confirmed).
If your child has made the SPX Diocesan Athletics team, you will receive a Compass event notification in Term 3. The Diocesan Carnival will be held at Beaton Park on Tuesday 3rd August.

SPX Sports Co ordinator
NAIDOC Week
NAIDOC Week 2021 will be held nationally from Sunday 4 July and continue through to Sunday 11 July which is during the school holidays. As a school, we will celebrate on Friday 16th July with a liturgy in our hall for staff and students. We ask that the students dress in traditional Aboriginal colours for a mufti day in which we will engage in Indigenous games, activities and a colouring-in competition with prizes for grade winners.
This year's NAIDOC 2021 theme is Heal Country, Heal Our Nation, a theme that calls for stronger measures to recognise, protect, and maintain all aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage. During NAIDOC, we remember in our thoughts and prayers the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of our country and celebrate their rich cultures and inspiring contributions to Australia.
For more information on this year's NAIDOC theme please go to the link: https://www.naidoc.org.au/get-involved/2021-theme
Students are invited to wear MUFTI on Friday 16th of July (Friday Week 1) to celebrate NAIDOC Week. Students are encouraged to wear colours from the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Island flags (ie red, black, yellow, blue, white, teal)
THANK YOU
I would like to take the opportunity to share my gratitude and thanks to each family within our school community for your demonstration of compassion and generosity throughout Semester 1 toward our Faith-In-Action fundraising events. Our school community has come together and far surpassed all of our monetary targets which makes me so, so proud! The funds that we have raised throughout Semester 1 will go on to make such a marvelous difference in the lives of people far less fortunate than ourselves. Thank you all once again!
G - DAY CELEBRATION
Dependent upon COVID -19 Restrictions.
On Monday 26th July (Term 3 Week 3) our school will celebrate G - DAY!
This day is a celebration of the wonderful GRANDPARENTS, GODPARENTS and GOOD FRIENDS that help support, nurture and love our wonderful students throughout their lives. It is important that each family RSVP their expected guest numbers for this event so as to best support our school COVID requirements – please complete the slip at the bottom of the form that will be coming home this week and return to school as soon as possible. There will be a meal deal option for guests to pre-order through our school canteen for this event so please have this back to school by the due day on the note as we will not be able to accept any late orders.
*** NOTE *** If you know of any grandparent, godparent of good friend who would like to be part of our liturgy (eg reading, procession, prayer etc) please send through their name and the name of the eldest child in the family via the school office email.
SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION
Parents of students within Year 6 are reminded that the Sacrament of Confirmation will take place within Term 3. The dates allocated to the Immaculate Conception Parish are TUESDAY 24th AUGUST and THURSDAY 26th AUGUST both at 7pm. Parents/ carers of students making this sacrament are EXPECTED to attend an adults spiritual formation session at the Immaculate Conception Parish with Fr Duane on Wednesday 28th July at 7 pm – please be sure to add this date to your diary as non-attendance could place the sacrament enrolment in jeopardy.
Please find attached the Canteen Roster for the remainder of 2021
We still require a few volunteers for Week FOUR each month if you are available.
Parish News
Dear friends,
The Parish Renewal process is now over to you all, and depends on your responses. Please do consider expressing your interest in ministries – noting that expressions of interest do not necessarily mean commitment at this stage. The Parish Pastoral Council looks forward to receiving your responses in the coming weeks while I take my annual leave, and will then communicate next steps to you all. I am grateful to them and all of the other parishioners and clergy who will be taking on extra work in my absence. I will remember you all in my prayers while I’m away, and I hope to come back refreshed and with more energy and a clearer vision for how best to serve you all as your priest.
God bless you and your loved ones,
Fr Duane Fernandez
Parish Priest
Immaculate Conception and St Therese Parishes
