Dear Parents and Carers,
Term Two has seen the staff at St Pius X continue to focus on the mantra that every student can be successful and experience continual growth in faith, learning and well-being. This is characterised by a culture of high expectations in the delivery of curriculum and a community that is authentically Catholic in its values.
This year a focus on contemporary prayer experiences has seen the students use Christian mediation as a tool to be still and reflective. The impact of this is evident with a sense of calm across the school. Teachers have also been working hard to develop quality assessment tasks to ensure students reach their full potential and are challenged in their learning. It has been so pleasing to read the Semester Two reports and see the growth individual students have made in their learning.
I will be taking a period of Long Service Leave from Tuesday 13th June until the remainder of the term. I am pleased to announce that Mrs Christine Nunes will act in the capacity of Principal during this time and Ms Louise Sartor, Acting Assistant Principal. Please do not hesitate to make contact with Mrs Nunes or Ms Sartor if you have any concerns during this time.
Please keep in mind our Confirmation candidates who prepare to receive this special sacrament, sealing them with the gift of the Holy Spirit. Candidates participated in a weekend retreat day and we look forward to the ceremonies next week. In the words of Pope Francis
“Confirmation strengthens us to spread the Gospel courageously”
Yours Sincerely,
Pauline Chrostowski - Principal
Feast of the Visitation (31st June)
As we continue our journey through the liturgical year, we would like to take this opportunity to shed light on a significant and joyous occasion celebrated by the Catholic Church - The Feast of the Visitation.
The Feast of the Visitation commemorates the biblical encounter between two extraordinary women, the Blessed Virgin Mary and her cousin, Elizabeth. According to the Gospel of Luke, after the Annunciation, Mary journeyed to visit Elizabeth, who was miraculously pregnant with John the Baptist. This joyous meeting is an inspiring example of love, support, and the joy that can come from bringing good news to others.
At St Pius X we believe in nurturing spiritual growth and understanding among our students. The Feast of the Visitation provides an excellent opportunity for our young learners to explore the themes of compassion, empathy, and the power of community.
Sacrament of Confirmation
On Tuesday 6th and Thursday 8th of June, members of our Year 6 cohort will be making their Sacrament of Confirmation. We would like to offer a blessing for these students from our whole school community.
May the Holy Spirit guide and bless you,
As you prepare for Confirmation, anew.
May His gifts of wisdom and strength be bestowed,
As you deepen your faith and love for God.
May you find joy in this sacred journey,
And embrace the calling with hearts full and free.
May your lives be filled with God's abundant grace,
As you walk in His light and seek His face.
May your Confirmation be a moment divine,
Where your spirits are strengthened, as you shine.
May you be courageous in sharing your faith,
And inspire others to follow God's path.
Dear students, know that you are surrounded by the prayers and support of your families, teachers, and the entire school community. May God's grace be with you every step of the way as you prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation. May this sacrament be a source of strength, peace, and joy as you embrace your role as full members of the Church.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS!
Students who attend school regularly have been shown to achieve at higher levels than students who do not have regular attendance. This relationship between attendance and achievement may appear early in a child's school career. We want to emphasise the importance of students arriving at school on time at St Pius X. Punctuality is essential for a smooth and productive learning environment. When children arrive on time, they can settle into their routines, prepare for the day, and fully engage in learning.
We kindly request your cooperation in ensuring your child's prompt arrival by establishing a consistent morning routine and discussing the importance of timeliness. It's worth noting that when students are late, they miss out on valuable academic learning. Even a few minutes of lateness can result in missed instruction and important classroom interactions. Thank you for your continued support in your child's education.

A message from the P&F
We need you…
The new St Pius X P&F committee is a very dedicated but small group. With a few events under our belt we’ve realised we can’t do it without the support of the school community. As they say, many hands make light work! With this in mind we are expanding our circle - join us and become a P&F member by completing this form. There’s no cost and no obligation, you can help as little or as much as you like!
What does it mean to be a P&F member… It’s really taking an active role in the school P&F community, it could mean helping to organise an event or initiative or being on the ground during an event.
It’s a wonderful way to get to know other parents and staff and just keep in touch with what’s happening at the school.
As usual, everyone is welcome to join the quarterly P&F meetings as a snapshot of what’s going on and a space to voice any suggestions.

Unanderra 2 ‘The Twits’ Stage play Excursion to Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre.
This term our class is studying Roald Dahl’s book The Twits. It is our unit of work for English. We have been exploring the characters, and studying the use of complex descriptive vocabulary in literature. We were lucky enough to attend the stage play as part of our English unit. It was very entertaining indeed. The class enjoyed the day out!
